I finally caved & bought the much talked about “Apprentice”. I velcroed one of my favorite pics of my husband & I on the front. I house all my clipboards & will put my sub binder in the side pockets. I hang my stapler & other things off the sides & LOVE that it rotates! I made some fabulous labels using Lettering Delights. In the front I have; to do, to copy, to share, to send home (office notes), next week. Then I have personal ones like my calendar which I have to have in reach at all times. Then, is all the subjects, office, staff meetings, grade level meetings, committee meetings. I also put one for daily read aloud & homework. Lastly, I have numbers 1-22 which will house assessment pieces. This is going to make me SUPER organized next year!
This is part of my classroom library. I store all my books in the red & blue bins that I purchased at Ikea. Once upon a time these bins used to be $1 but last time I was there they raised the price to $2…ugh! All of these books are AR books. All the blue bins contain AR levels 0.8-2.9 & the red bins are 3.0 & up. I beg Home Depot for paint sticks & the kids decorate them at the beginning of the year to mark their spot when they take a book. This seems to work well & USUALLY the kids put the books back in the correct bin.
Excuse my messy table…eek! The primary colored book bins is where I store my non AR books. I wish I had my labels on my home computer to share. Anyway, these are by theme. For example, I have a few ocean bins & the books in the bin all contain the same label as the label placed on the front of the bin. I use these when I do different units & with Science.
This isn’t necessarily storage but this is where the kids put their homework. It’s great because I can see at a glance who didn’t turn in their homework for the day. One of the classroom jobs is “morning homework checker”. Their job is to make sure everyone handed in their homework & they make sure names are on every paper BY THE BELL. I also have an “afternoon homework checker”. Morning & afternoon “checkers” take out the homework & place a sticker on their homework charts. I duct-taped these on & they have been on for five years!
This is actually a “before” picture of all my file folder games & how I store them. I bought some cardboard bins from Ikea that I like better & also made new labels using Letting Delights fonts. Anyway, this is where I store all my games. I have different labels for each one..for example: “long vowels”, “digraphs”, “comprehension”, “R-controlled vowels”, etc. I simply take out the games & place them into their center tubs when we get to the skill.
This is from my favorite store…..Lakeshore Learning! This is also before I made new labels. The top bin is where all my notes, book order money, etc. goes. The red basket is where my “homework checkers” neatly place all homework. The green basket is where my RTI homework goes. Finally, the blue basket is where I store extra sheets from the office.
The containers next to this is for my marker storage.

I love piece of furniture or storage system with a name. That looks like something that would be so useful at my small group table. Do you remember where you bought it?

I love your homework system. I've been looking for a way to quickly check homework in the morning and this is perfect. Do you mind if I share this idea on my blog (linking back to you, of course!)?

WOW I can spell ๐ *Your….sorry my daughter has been sick and we haven't been getting much sleep around here!

When I looked at the apprentice online it had a paperclip holder where you have files. Is this removable? It seems like it wouldn't be very effective in the middle of the files. Thanks Lori

I am looking for a way to organize all the books at with in my home. Can you tell the themes you are made for the bins. And do you feel it works better to have them in the bins rather than the folder/magazine boxes?
Thanks Kelly
