Native American Headband Freebie & More!
I whipped up this freebie for my little nuggets turkeys last night. I would love for you to grab it for your own students or children. I just LOVE how DIFFERENT they turned out. Each & every headband has their own little personality. I made three different options to choose from. I copied some feathers on different colored construction paper & even offered my old feather patterns to trace onto scrapbook paper. I needed to make a sample & the girls & boys asked where the chevron paper was. Uh-oh. I couldn't let them drool over my chevron & not share. Since I have been cleaning house for our big move, I thought I'd pull out some & share. Grab your freebie HERE: Every student except two picked the flower & peace sign strip. I REALLY wanted them to pick the others. If they would have, I was going to let them use watercolors. Too late...wah! They had so much fun making these & took home the … [Read more...] about Native American Headband Freebie & More!

9/11 Freebie for Little Learners
The day that changed America............... I will never forget the day that changed our world just 12 years ago. How do you discuss this with children that weren't even a glimmer in their parent's eyes? Do you? There are several books that I have read in the past when children have asked me questions about the events of 9/11. Yes, first graders have asked me. Always ask them what they know first & don't offer any additional information, leave that up to their parents. I always like to be prepared just in case. I know it is very last minute BUT, that's how I roll & I want you to have back up plans just in case. Great book to read the littles........ Here is a freebie that can be used not only for Patriot Day (9/11), but any time of the year. You can thank a hero with a letter any day of the week. GRAB YOUR FREEBIE HERE! Don't forget to follow me while you are there. … [Read more...] about 9/11 Freebie for Little Learners
Work on Writing Linky Party
Thank you to Caitlin from Kindergarten Smiles for hosting this Freebie-licious summer linky party! I will be honest......I have always struggled getting my firsties to love writing until this past year. There are some fabulous resources out there in blogland to help you. I am confident they leave my classroom with a love of reading but my goal this year was to do that with writing. We are giving them the foundation for reading and writing and it's our job to prepare them for the dreaded "writing" portion of state tests. If you have been following my blog then you know I use warm fuzzies. Last year I actually started taking warm fuzzies if they forgot a capital or punctuation. They would get so frustrated but it did work. Daily 5 provided my class with the opportunity to write daily and they ended up being the BEST writers I've ever taught. You have to make it exciting for them & change things up. As soon as I sniffed out any boredom at all I would … [Read more...] about Work on Writing Linky Party
