The day that changed America............... I will never forget the day that changed our world just 12 years ago. How do you discuss this with children that weren't even a glimmer in their parent's eyes? Do you? There are several books that I have read in the past when children have asked me questions about the events of 9/11. Yes, first graders have asked me. Always ask them what they know first & don't offer any additional information, leave that up to their parents. I always like to be prepared just in case. I know it is very last minute BUT, that's how I roll & I want you to have back up plans just in case. Great book to read the littles........ Here is a freebie that can be used not only for Patriot Day (9/11), but any time of the year. You can thank a hero with a letter any day of the week. GRAB YOUR FREEBIE HERE! Don't forget to follow me while you are there. … [Read more...] about 9/11 Freebie for Little Learners

First Day of School Tips & More!
I'm joining some of my bff's over at Freebie-licious for our last summer linky party. Seriously, where did the summer go? I've spent my ENTIRE summer on getting ready for next year & of course sharing my ideas with you. I have so many classroom pictures that I can't wait to show you! I pride myself on the classroom management routines & procedures that I have come up with. This my lovelies is vital to new teachers & even veteran teachers. We always pray that we will not get the class that puts us in the looney bin but we always don't get that lucky. I don't have children so the students are my children for 9 months. Some I would love to take home & some I would like to move to another class. We all have them. The first day is always scary for any teacher. We are just as nervous as our little nuggets & their parents will be. I always get scared that I am going to make someone cry, send them home on the wrong bus, lose them in … [Read more...] about First Day of School Tips & More!

Positive Rewards for Classroom Management
If you have been a follower for the last several years then you know I focus on positive classroom management. Several years ago when I implemented my reward coupons I witnessed a drastic change in my classroom atmosphere. It was truly amazing to watch. Along with the reward coupons I also use a combination of character trait student recognition necklaces (pictured above) and my other student recognition necklaces. It is amazing how the students just light up when I would tell them to go grab the "I was respectful" necklace! They wore them proudly & loved the extra attention they received from the principal, other teachers & staff members. This is how I used to store them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way these were stored BUT you know I like to change things up........keep reading. I simply printed the necklaces out on REGULAR PRINTER PAPER, not card stock & then cut each necklace out & pasted it on tie dye scrapbook paper. Of … [Read more...] about Positive Rewards for Classroom Management
